Walmart recently opened its first Walmart Health center in Dallas, GA in another effort to establish itself in the healthcare industry. Although Walmart has attempted health care clinics before, the company has renewed its efforts with a new “health center” strategy.
By partnering with local health care providers, the Walmart Health center will offer various services all under one roof. Services include primary care, labs, X-ray, EKG, counseling, dental, optical, hearing, community health (including nutritional services & fitness), and health insurance education & enrollment.
The very first Walmart Health clinic is located adjacent to the Dallas, GA Walmart Supercenter, with a separate entrance.
According to Sean Slovenski, Walmart’s President of health and wellness, the Walmart Health clinic will provide low, easy-to-understand pricing for key health services, regardless of a patient’s insurance status. At Walmart Health, a child can get an annual check-up for $20, lab tests starting at $10, and adult teeth cleaning for $25. Slovenski went on to say,
“The issues of healthcare affordability and accessibility are two of the greatest and most prevalent concerns in our country today. Helping families save money so they can live better is at the heart of Walmart’s business, and we have bold ambitions to partner with great providers and find solutions to deliver quality health services at low, transparent pricing to our customers in a way that is convenient for them, making ‘live better’ the norm.”
Walmart Health plans to use its first location in Dallas, GA as a test market, with the goal of bringing the Walmart Health center model to other communities. The company is already planning a second location in Calhoun, Georgia, set to open early next year.
