Dollar General Digital Coupons are Here!

The links in the post below may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

5Did you hear the great news? Dollar General has begun offering digital coupons through a free mobile app! Add them to your phone number-based account and they will automatically come off at the register. This is a brand-new program so I’m still unclear on some details–like whether these coupons are manufacturer coupons or store coupons, or a combination of both. It will be interesting to see how these new coupons will help us save even more and potentially make checkout less of a hassle!

Here are a few things that we do know:

Overview & How to Sign Up

The information below is taken from the Dollar General digital coupons site, where you can find a lot of helpful details, watch a how-to video, and read the FAQs.

While logged in to your account on your mobile phone or desktop computer, clip offers to your phone number. At checkout, redeem these offers by typing your phone number into the pin pad. Dollar General can send you a digital receipt of your purchase via text message or email. Watch these savings add up in your DG digital coupons accounts!

How to Load & Redeem Digital Coupons

Digital coupons can be accessed online or on a mobile device at DollarGeneral.com/Coupons. They can also be accessed with the Dollar General smart phone application. You will need to log in to your profile in order to clip selected coupons.

Once loaded to your account, coupons are automatically applied at checkout when you purchase the eligible item and enter your phone number using the pin pad. You can redeem your offers immediately. In fact, coupons can be loaded in-store on your mobile device and redeemed at checkout.

Other Details and Information

  • The DG digital coupons program is a customized experience based on your purchase history and your favorite products and categories. The more you use it the better it gets!
  • There is no limit on the number of coupons that you can load to your account at one time, although individual coupons may have limits on the number of times they can be redeemed.
  • Offers are continuously updated. Visit the site as you plan your trips to the store to maximize your savings.
  • When you enter your phone number at checkout your savings will be tracked through the savings dashboard. This provides an overview of your total savings over time. The savings dashboard can be accessed via web or mobile.
  • Redeemed coupons will be indicated on your printed cash register receipt and on your DG digital receipt. Digital receipts offer you the ability to see a detailed history of your purchases as well as track your digital coupon savings.

Help with Digital Coupons

The Dollar General digital coupons page has a great deal of information and a list of frequently asked questions to prepare you for your shopping experience. Even better, they also have a clear way to communicate with them if something goes wrong. Be sure to send in feedback for help with digital coupon redemption!

Can I Stack Digital Coupons with Paper Coupons?

This is the most important question of all! The answer is pretty clearly laid out in the FAQs, and that is a “Yes”! Here is what DG officially has to say about whether or not we can use paper coupons in addition to digital coupons:

Yes, but you will not be able to combine multiple manufacturer’s or multiple Dollar General coupons for the same item in the same transaction.”

But one thing is still uncertain: whether digital coupons are manufacturer coupons or store coupons. That will be important to determine in order to follow the above guideline. My best guess is that they will probably be a combination of both, and as we get more familiar with this program, we’ll be able to find ways to discern that before redemption, similar to the Target printable coupons.

Please let us know in the “comments” about any other important details you’ve learned already about the digital coupon program!
