Free Starbucks Coffee for Front-Line Coronavirus Responders

Starbucks just announced that it will be offering free coffee to front line responders now through May 3rd.

Effective immediately, any customer who identifies as a front-line responder to the COVID-19 outbreak will receive a tall brewed coffee (hot or iced) at no charge. Awesome!

The company also announced that The Starbucks Foundation will donate $500,000 to support front-line responders in the US with half of these funds going to Direct Relief in support of the delivery of personal protective equipment and essential medical items.

The other half of this donation will go toward Operation Gratitude to deliver 50,000 care packages and handwritten letters to first responders and health care workers.

Starbucks Suspends the Use of Reusable Cups Amid Coronavirus Concerns

As Starbucks lovers know, the chain offers a 10¢ discount for customers who bring in their own reusable cups. In an open letter to stakeholders, Rossann Williams, EVP and President, U.S. company-operated business and Canada, announced that Starbucks is pausing the use of personal cups and “for here” ware to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

First and foremost, the health and well-being of our partners and customers remains top of mind and our highest priority, and we will continue to act thoughtfully and courageously despite the disruption and uncertainty COVID-19 brings to our daily lives. We will continue to stay close to our partners and local health officials, and we are optimistic this will be a temporary situation.

Starbucks has also updated cleaning procedures across all locations nationwide, and the company has canceled all business-related air travel through the end of March. These changes, along with the suspended use of reusable cups, have already taken effect.

Starbucks Recalls 230,000 Bodum Recycled Coffee Presses Due to Laceration Hazard

Have you purchased a Starbucks Bodum Recycled Coffee Press over the past few years? On May 1st, Starbucks issued a recall on their Bodum Recycled Coffee Presses because they had received nine total reports of the plunger’s knob breaking, resulting in lacerations or puncture injuries.

These coffee presses were sold at Starbucks stores nationwide and online at Starbucks.com from November 2016 through January 2019 for about $20. The affected coffee presses have the SKU number 011063549 printed on a white label on the bottom of the base. Also, “Bodum” and “Made in Portugal” are embossed on the bottom.

If you believe you have one of these recalled Coffee Presses, you can register your product on the Bodum + Starbucks Recycled Coffee Presses Recall website. According to the U.S. CPSC site, you can return it to any Starbucks location for a refund in the form of store credit to Starbucks.

Starbucks Rewards Program Changes Coming April 16th

Heads Up, Starbucks Rewards Members!

On April 16th, 2019, Starbucks will be rolling out their new rewards system!

With this new rewards system, Starbucks Rewards Members will still earn 2 stars for every $1 spent using a registered gift card or the Starbucks app; however, you will now be able to redeem your points at different levels for various items!

  • Redeem 25 Stars – Add an extra shot, flavor, or soy milk to your drink for free (up to $1 off beverage price)
  • Redeem 50 Stars – Get any size hot brewed coffee, hot tea, or bakery item for free
  • Redeem 150 Stars – Get any handcrafted beverage or breakfast item for free
  • Redeem 200 Stars – Get a lunch sandwich, salad or protein box for free
  • Redeem 400 Stars – Get packaged coffee or a single merchandise item for free (up to $20 value)

Although these changes do lower the amount of stars you need to redeem for a free plain coffee, you will now need MORE stars for free handcrafted beverages as mentioned above.

All other Starbucks Rewards items like free in-store brewed coffee or tea refills, and birthday freebies will still be available as well!
