Register Now for Free Home Depot Kids Workshops – Build an American Eagle & Stocking Ornament

On Saturday, November 2nd from 9AM – 12PM, head into a participating Home Depot where they will be hosting a FREE Kids Workshop! Your kiddos will be able to create a fun American Eagle!
Kids will assemble the bird’s basic shape and its wings and then build the base to help the bird stand tall. Kids will then paint the piece to bring it to life and add fun stickers.

And on Saturday, November 30th from 9AM – 12PM, head into a participating Home Depot for another FREE Kids Workshop where kiddos will be able to create a Christmas Stocking Ornament!

Using the pieces in the kit, kids will learn to nail a frame to the inside of the ornament. The frame can then hold any favorite small photo.

And with every Kids Workshop, all kids get to keep their craft, and receive a certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last – all for free!

Walmart’s Holiday Layaway Service Available Now – Shop Early & Get More Time to Pay

Through December 9th, 2019, Walmart stores are offering their convenient Holiday Layaway for in-store purchases only – perfect for all of your holiday shopping!

No credit cards are required, and there are NO interest payments on your purchases.

How do I get started?

To get started on Layaway, bring your item(s), or the “tear pad” ticket for large and heavy items, to the store’s designated Layaway counter. Then, make a small down-payment of $20 or 20%, whichever is greater. That money goes directly toward your Layaway – no fees!

Note that individual Layaway items must be priced at $10 or more, and total purchases must be $50 or greater. Make payments ANY time on your Layaway at ANY register in the store.

By December 9th, head back to the same store where you started your Layaway plan to pay the the final payment and pick up your items. Otherwise, your Layaway account will be canceled, and all items will be returned to inventory. Any payments made will be refunded, less a cancellation fee that matches your down payment (does not apply in Maryland, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington, D.C.).

Note: Layaway is not available on Thursday, November 28th, 2019 (Thanksgiving Day).

Chipotle Now Offers Debt-Free Degrees for All Employees

Chipotle Mexican Grill will now offer all eligible employees the option to pursue a debt-free college degree as a benefit of employment. This new perk is the latest addition to Chipotle’s Cultivate Education program, which has provided employees with over $20 million in tuition assistance over the past two years.

Chipotle’s existing tuition reimbursement program already reimburses eligible employees for up to $5,250 in tuition per year at the school of their choice. Now, the company is expanding its Cultivate Education program to cover 100% of up-front tuition costs for 75 different types of business and technology degrees. Awesome!

The expansion of Chipotle’s Cultivate Education program is a result of the restaurant’s partnership with an education benefits company called Guild Education.

After 120 days of employment, eligible employees (including hourly crew members) will be able to pursue a debt-free degree from select nonprofit, accredited universities including The University of Arizona, Bellevue University, Brandman University, Southern New Hampshire University, and Wilmington University.

Marissa Andrada, Chief People Officer at Chipotle, said,

“Chipotle recognizes that financial barriers can be one of the biggest obstacles that impede our employees from achieving their fullest potential. We are proud to launch this opportunity for debt-free degrees by providing free tuition to help our employees excel in all areas in their lives, both in and out of Chipotle.”

In addition to its impressive education benefits, Chipotle is also known for offering other appealing perks for its hourly employees. Qualifying crew members have access to healthcare, fitness discounts, and free English as a Second Language and GED classes for themselves and family members.

Chipotle’s Crew Bonus program also allows employees the chance to earn an extra month’s pay each year by meeting certain criteria!

Frozen Meat Recalled from Walmart Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

More than 6,400 pounds of frozen meat sold at Walmart have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

George’s Prepared Foods, the company that produces Great Value fully cooked frozen pork sausage and turkey sausage products, said that a small group of these products tested positive for salmonella. Instead of disposing of them, the company accidentally shipped these products nationwide.

According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the recalled products were produced on April 19, 2019, April 27, 2019, May 7, 2019, and May 9, 2019. They have the numbers “EST. M2206T” or “P-2260T” printed on their packaging. The following products have been recalled:

Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties (24.92-oz) with a use-by date of 10/16/19 and a lot code of 1091971894

Great Value Fully Cooked Original Breakfast Turkey Patties (24.92-oz) with a use-by date of 10/24/19 and a lot code of 1171971897

Family Size Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties (35.6-oz) with use-by dates of 11/03/19 and 11/05/19 and lot codes of 1271972894 and 1291972894

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. They should be thrown away or returned to the point of purchase. While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
