Amazon just announced in a blog post that it’s now including fast and FREE grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market as a benefit of your Amazon Prime membership.

Prime members can now order tens of thousands of grocery items online, including meat, seafood, produce, snacks and household essentials, and have these products delivered to their door in under two hours for free (depending on the city).

Previously, Prime members had to pay an additional $14.99 per month for this service, on top of the cost of their Prime membership.

“Prime members love the convenience of free grocery delivery on Amazon, which is why we’ve made Amazon Fresh a free benefit of Prime, saving customers $14.99 per month,” said Stephenie Landry, VP of Grocery Delivery. “Grocery delivery is one of the fastest growing businesses at Amazon, and we think this will be one of the most-loved Prime benefits.”

Unfortunately, this Prime perk isn’t available in all locations. Even in cities where grocery delivery is available, this benefit is currently by invitation only. Prime members who have already been using grocery delivery services can continue to do so, but all other Prime members who live in one of the areas where grocery delivery is available must request an invitation to make use of this benefit.

According to the company, fresh grocery delivery from Amazon is now available in “more than 2,000 cities and towns.” Amazon promises to keep expanding its grocery delivery and pickup services to more areas in the future.
