What are your plans for the summer? My family is planning to stay close to home this summer since we recently returned from a 7 day cruise. The rising gas prices, may force us to scale back our travels and take advantage of some local “staycations”.
This summer, we are going to leverage staying close to home and becoming ‘local legends’. We are going to break out the water balloons and the slip-on-slide and have some good old fashioned fun in the sun! We will also have picnics and barbecues with our friends and family. I am planning to enroll my son in a week long summer camp through our church. Since we live very close to our state zoo, we will try to frequently visit it. I love visiting the zoo because it is a great way to exercise (boy do you walk!) and the kids LOVE it (even the big ones! ?).
We are also planning to visit our local amusement park, Carowinds (we have season passes). My son LOVES riding roller-coasters and looks forward to visiting every chance we get. My son is already counting down the days until school is out for summer (1 week from today but who’s counting ?). My husband is off work most Fridays during the summer so they visit Carowinds almost every week they can. One time the park wasn’t very busy and they rode the Carolina Cyclone 46 times in a row (without getting off ?). They were truly a ‘local legend’! We purchased the season passes that included a meal plan so we don’t have to worry about packing a picnic lunch to enjoy at the car….. We all know how expensive the amusement park food and drinks are! The meal plan covers 2 meals for every day you visit the park (must be 4 hours apart)! With a season pass you also get free parking! Carowinds also has a waterpark!
